TOWARDS THE MILLIONTH CIRCLE

30 quilts (28" square format)

We learned that images of circles have long been associated with the feminine in traditional myth and symbolism. They symbolize democracy, wholeness, birth and death. Each artist took this knowledge and created the fiber works presented here, reaffirming our mission to encourage connection and cooperation among members and inspire creative solutions to individual work. We believe that our circle supports each member to find her own voice and live more courageously.

GRATEFUL HEARTS

23 members of the group created small quilts on the theme of Grateful Hearts to benefit an organization called Working Wardrobes. There was a drawing for these quilts in October of 2005, and the ticket sales benefited this group which donates clothing to people who are trying to get back into the work force.

THE HORIZON SERIES
38 quilts (12"W X 40"L Vertical Format)

Each member created an original design using the same criteria: 12 inches, 40 inches long, with a "horizon" or division of space 15 to 17 inches from the top. By hanging the works together, two inches apart, a continuing element creates unity, while maintaining the individuality of the single artwork. The proportions were difficult, the results are astounding.
