"As a fiber artist in Signal Hill, California,
I have been drawing the inspiration for my work from the ever changing
hills that make up the California landscape and the ravens and crows
that mirror the human residents.
I use the idea of layers to transform
fabric, moving from what is, to what might be. By progressively experimenting
with various design elements and techniques, I have developed a method
of layering while working within strong structural shapes. The color
and form of the structural shapes are important for their initial impact
and concept development; within these structural elements on the base
quilt canvas I use a variety of yarns, beads and found objects in combination
with hand painted velveteens, silks and cotton fabrics to create textural
layers."
